3. How We Use Your Information

All data processing happens locally on your device. We use your information to:

Important: All your data is stored locally using Chrome's Storage API:

Sync Storage: User profile and settings (synced across your Chrome browsers if you're signed in)

6. Permissions Explained

JobConnect requests the following browser permissions:

storage: To save your profile, settings, and analytics locally
alarms: To periodically clean up old match data (older than 30 days)
contextMenus: To provide right-click menu options for quick analysis

Host Permissions: Access to job board websites (Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor, Hiring.Cafe) only to read job listings and display match scores on those pages.

7. Data Access on Job Board Websites

When you visit supported job boards, JobConnect reads publicly visible job listing information from the webpage to analyze matches. This includes:

Job title
Company name
Job description and requirements
Salary information (if displayed)
Location

This information is processed locally and is NOT stored or transmitted anywhere.

8. Your Rights and Controls

You have complete control over your data:

Access: View all your stored data through the extension popup
Modify: Edit your profile, settings, and preferences at any time
Delete: Clear your statistics using the "Clear Statistics" button, or remove all data by uninstalling the extension
Disable Analytics: Turn off analytics tracking in settings to stop collecting usage data
Export: Currently not available, but all data is in Chrome's storage and accessible via developer tools

9. Data Retention

User Profile & Settings: Retained until you modify or delete them
Analytics Data: Retained until you clear statistics or uninstall the extension
Recent Matches: Automatically deleted after 30 days by our cleanup process

10. Children's Privacy

JobConnect is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us.

11. Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage APIs, the security of your data depends on:

Your device's security (passwords, encryption)
Your Chrome profile security
Chrome's built-in security features
